June favourites

Hello Wallflowers,
As this month is drawing to an end, I have decided its the perfect time to post a monthly favourites post, which I have wanted to do for a long time. There is a range of beauty products and one random item of clothing that I have been loving this month. I have had a really busy weekend so I will finish this post tomorrow.

Schwarzkopf 2 sexy big volume hairspray

I am not usually a massive fan of hairspray as its one extra thing to do with my hair when I am usually already running late. Although, I love this hairspray because it feels so light weight on your hair. With some other hairsprays I find that they can make your hair almost a bit sticky, looking greasy and very unnatural. I love this hairspray because it does what it says about giving my hair more volume and still look natural.

Real Techniques expert face brush

This is the only real techniques brush I have at the moment although I am planning on purchasing the powder brush soon as my powder brush has nothing on these. I love this brush, I think it is perfect for my liquid foundation. It has a super soft end that doesn't affect or hurt my skin at all. I love these brushes because they are such a high quality drugstore brush that everyone will love.

Barry M Gelly nail paint: prickly pear

I love the colour of this nail varnish. It was the first Barry M nail varnish I have ever bought as I was recommended it by a friend. I think this is the perfect hand nail varnish for summer as it is a beauty pastel colour. I really like the packaging for Barry M nail varnishes as they look so simple but effective and they are so well known and it is obvious which brand it is. Compared to a lot of other brands Barry M isn't that expensive which is good and it means it is a good value for money.

Primark pyjama shorts

These shorts only cost me around £4 which is really good but they are primark so their not going to be really expensive. They probably won't last as long. However, I only want them for summer, so that doesn't really bother me. I love the pattern as I think it is really cute and fits in perfectly with the summer theme.

Maybelline Rocket Volum' express waterproof mascara

I bought this mascara before I went on holiday this year as it is waterproof. I love the effect it has on my eyelashes. It makes them so much longer. However, I am the kind of the person that likes volume so depending on how I put it on and how much time I have will affect how much volume it gives them.

The Other Foundation Review

 Hello Wallflowers,
I have been so busy lately that I chose to do a quick foundation review to go with Tawney's. The foundation that I have is Revlon Nearly Naked in shade 130 Shell. This was my first proper foundation as I originally used BB creams all the time and I chose it because it had very light coverage. Girls are always going on about how heavy and cakey their foundation is so I didn't really want that so when this one came out and everyone was saying how light it was, I got it.
The foundation itself has light coverage but can be built up easily as long as you buff it in. It has a yellow undertone and has a sort of glowy finish. As I have oily skin, I was worried it would make my face look shiny but it really doesn't, adding a healthy glow which can be matted with powder. It lasts all day but you may need to powder once and does not look cakey at all.
There are many ways of how to put your foundation on, but personally I put it on first after my moisturizer which makes it easy to buff in. It creates a really nice base for concealer and leaves a very seamless finish. I use the Real Techniques stippling brush to put it on which is perfect and finds that this shade fits my skin nearly perfectly. The only down side of this foundation is that it doesn't have a pump meaning that I have to pour it onto the back of my hand.
Hope this helps in choosing a foundation, great for beginners or light coverage.

The Sunday Post- Guilt

Hello Wallflowers,
Didn't know what to write for this weeks Sunday Post so I took some inspiration from school :) Hope you don't mind and it gives you some advice.
Recently in my English lesson, we have been looking at the play Macbeth and looking at the hidden messages that Shakespeare uses in certain features. One metaphor hid a message which I particularly liked which was along the lines of no great power can wash off all of the guilt. I’ll put it into context. Basically Macbeth has just killed Duncan (the king) and he is trying to wash his hands of the blood and says this:
Will all great Neptune’s ocean wash this blood
Clean from my hand? No, this my hand will rather
The multitudinous sea incarnadine
Making the green one red

What he is saying here is that not any power will be able to wash the blood and guilt off his hands, not even Neptune, God of the sea. This got me thinking- can we ever wash the guilt of our past actions from our hands? Can any comment or action be erased from us or does it stay with us forever, slowly building up until the weight is unbearable to carry? At what point do our actions become too much for us to cope with? Everyone has at one point in their life made a comment on their friends appearance or taken a cookie when they knew it was nearly dinner time or hasn't handed in their homework on time but do even these small action stay with us? Obviously no one will have gone as far as Shakespeare made Macbeth go to get the point across but we must think about how our actions impact our lives. We won’t go mad like Macbeth did but there must be some impact, some tiny dent in our image which shows what we have done. I sometimes picture everyone carrying around all of their bad deeds in a suitcase and depending on how many bad things they've done, depends on the size of the suitcase. There isn't any way for us to really get rid of our actions but instead we should quit while we are ahead and think before we act. Think about what we say or do will impact someone and think about heavy it will be for you to carry. Just realized how deep this has gone but I suppose Shakespeare does have a point and he does suggest some pretty interesting stuff.
Sorry if it's short but it was just some thoughts

My foundation review

Hello Wallflowers,
For this blog I have decided to review my everyday drugstore foundation.

I bought this foundation a couple of months ago as I was previously using the Rimmel London BB cream but wanted to try something new. I did like the BB cream. However, personally I didn't feel like it was right for me. So I went for a change. I had looked at review for a couple of foundations before I went to buy as I have a break out prone complexion that can be quite oily sometimes. I obviously forgot to write down the names of the foundations I had been looking at so i picked this one up. It is the Rimmel London lasting finish 25 hour foundation.

When wearing this foundation even if my face feels a little bit oily it will still wont look shiny. I would say this foundation has medium to high coverage it depends on the amount you apply and the person wearing it. Personally I really like the coverage of this foundation as itlasts me the whole day. However, I do wear concealer and powder on top. This foundation is really easy to blend, I use the Real Techniques expert face brush, which I find amazing and a lot easier to get a even coverage with. I don't get lines on my face when using this foundation which is always a bonus.
I went for the lightest shade which is ivory 100, but I still feel like this foundation is slightly too orange under toned for me, so I blend it and use a powder which is a tiny bit lighter. I bought this foundation when it was on a two pounds off offer, as it is normally supposed to be £6.99, which I think is a reasonable price considering the amount you get, how long it lasts and the fact it is a drugstore foundation.
I hope this review helps you when searching for the perfect foundation.

Ideas for summer photography

Hello Wallflowers,
Recently I have found it quite difficult to come up with a topic my first ever proper blog post. So I decided to go for a topic that would be the most suited to the time of year which of course is summer. However, I have sort of changed this topic so it is about photography in summer. Personally, I really enjoy photography it doesn't take an expert and cameras on phones are dramatically improving so it doesn't take the latest range of expensive equipment to do. You don't need to go far to get a high quality image as there are tones of places that you can get some great photos this time of year. Fields, are where I take a lot of my photos, I think the main reason for this is because they are within walking distance from my house. In summer there are a number of blooming flowers such as Daisy's, cowslips, orchids, clovers, buttercups and I have actually seen a number of poppies this year. I have decided to share with you some of the pictures that I have taken.

Clover, taken a couple of weeks ago.
A simple daisy, found in most gardens.
Blossom in the trees.
More flowers in the trees.
Bluebells, from a couple of months ago.
This is a random photo but its still nature. However, it's just a living animal.

The reason they have writing on is because I used them for a page and so they were a bit more protected and people new they were my images. Hopefully these images will inspire you to get out and about and get some pictures for yourself.

The Revlon Lip

Hello Wallflowers,
Today, I have 3 mini reviews on Revlon lip products. Lately, Revlon have been coming out with fantastic ideas for different forms of lipsticks and I have been loving the formulas.

Revlon Lip Butter: Juicy Papaya 027

The Lip Butters have been talked about so much so I'm sure everyone knows what they do but they basically are a more pigmented tinted lip balm which leaves your lips feeling really soft and moisturized. Juicy Papaya is a gorgeous peachy orange colour and is one of the new ones which came out this spring. This is one of the more pigmented lip butters but leaves a nice peachy glow on the lips. The product is £7.99 which I think is a bit too much for the amount of product you get but it's totally worth it. Another problem with it is that it 'smooshes' very easily and can melt in warmer weather so I wouldn't recommend having it in your handbag all day

This is my favorite lip product to wear at the moment as its subtle and just looks really nice. A beautiful shade that would suit all skin tones.

Revlon Lip Butter: Strawberry Shortcake 080

This next lip butter is a lovely light pink as you can tell from the name but it has a very subtle blue/purple undertone to it. It does exactly the same as Juicy Papaya, feel wise but makes your lips look very girly. The only problem I have found with this, is it can highlight some of the dry patches on your lips more.

I love this colour but not as much as the other one as sometimes I think it makes my lips look too pale. I wouldn't recommend this for cool toned skin as it could make you look quite tired and just generally make you looked washed out. For others though, its a lovely pop of colour and is a lot more pigmented than Juicy Papaya.

Revlon Lip Stain: Honey 001

This is a fantastic lip stain which stays on for agggeesss. I apply it in the morning and only have to top it up once a day when it is sometimes slightly patchy. Honey is a dark pink colour leaving your lips looking very natural with a slight sheen when you first apply it. Once the colour has settled you can eat and drink and it will not budge! You get a lot of product for the price (£7.99) and it obviously will last you long. The smell when you apply it is quite minty which is a plus and the twisty thing at the bottom makes it easier to apply.

Ignore the dodgy pictures here but the product looks darker here then it does on the lips. I only wish Revlon would bring out more colours in the UK as they only have around 6. There is a gorgeous one which has been released in  America called 'Charmed'. I WANT IT SO BADLY! I use this product every day and I would recommended it to anyone, any skin tone.

Ok, that was it Wallflowers- don't judge me too badly as I need to get into the swing of this but enjoy and I hope this helps
Have fun

The Start

Hello Wallflowers,
Our first post, this is exciting. I'll just give you some background information first. Hi, we are two 14 year old girls who live in a small village with nothing much to do. Lately, we have been watching a lot of youtube videos by people like beautycrush, Zoella, Tanya Burr and sprinkle of glitter in. We've always loved beauty and so wanted to try it out for ourselves but instead of doing youtube we decided to do a blog first, exploring our interests of fashion, beauty, photography and writing. The name Wallflower beauty came from the both of us as we have both read the book 'Perks of Being a Wallflower' which we both enjoyed and wanted to explore the idea of those people or items left by the side. People might not notice them but they still are beautiful which is what we liked about the name. We are best friends and so therefore thought it would be a good idea to do it together as we can share the work load and have different products, views and interests. We hope you like it and find it interesting.
